I love pepper!

chili-499062_640In my youth, I loved hot peppers; in fact, my appetite could not be completely satisfied without a fair dose of Jalapenos sprinkled thereupon. As I realized my total and complete addition to hot peppers, I slowly weaned myself off of jalapenos but later I found that I was putting unseemly amounts of black pepper on my food to the point of embarrassment and therefore being ridiculed by my beloved family. Whereupon I recanted and would only drown my food in black pepper in private. I would unscrew the top of the pepper shaker and dump almost ¼ of the contents on my mashed potatoes and brown gravy with another 1/4th on my steak and vegetables and consume same with large smile. As I passed through my black pepper stage, I had the grand opportunity to have a marvelously prepared steak at one of Ft. Worth’s finest restaurants and to my unwitting delight, it had a spicy sauce consisting I think of Cayenne. Our host (and the guests) also liked the spicy taste of the overpriced steak and so when he cooked steaks on his grill the following night he sprinkled Cayenne thereupon and everyone raved. So, after making my way home, having finally come to terms with my addiction and given in to my lust for spice, I have created for myself the following home pepper shaker below filled with my beloved Cayenne darling who –while allowing me to fully appreciate the food she adorns– finishes me off with a sharp and satisfying slap to the palate letting me know thereby I am done.
